GARDENS AT THE HILL-STEAD MUSEUM

The enclosed space of the sunken gardens here offers a reflective peace.  It is a space conducive to writing, thinking, painting.  Rock wall, trees, arches, flower and foliage patterns, the soft play of light and dark, create a soft rhythm.  That rhythm was further developed in this painting by making solid objects appear transparent.
