Let me introduce myself. I am a new "old" artist. I began painting at about age eight when my Mother took me with her to her new oil painting class. She realized I was very keen on doing art, and enrolled me in my own classes. Together, we painted and sold our paintings during my childhood and youth. When I graduated from high school and went away to college, I was determined to become an artist. I was keenly interested in learning skills for painting people as I considered my fellow beings as the Master's finest creations, and sacred.
At college, I met my husband-to-be, and we were married. He supported me in being an artist and I arose at 4:30 in the morning before he and our little children awakened in order to practice my art. Eventually, it became necessary for me to work full time, and I abandoned my desire, to earn a professional degree in health care (occupational therapy) and worked for about 22 years in this profession. I went back to school again to obtain my clinical mental health counseling degree and worked in my own therapy business for another eight years.
I recently retired, having had a spiritual calling back to art. All our children are grown and gone out on their own and have given us ten precious grandchildren. I have converted a large room into my "sacred space." I have dedicated this space in my home for following the promptings of God, painting, studying God's words, prayer, and working on this virtual sacred space. Welcome to my sacred space. I hope you find rest and inspiration as I share my works of art with you.
