He Called Me By Name
As I was studying the prelude to the Book of Mormon, and was reading Joseph Smith's account of an angel named, Moroni, visiting him to guide him in his next steps in restoring the gospel of Jesus Christ, an image came into my mind of Joseph being stunned with the brightness of the angel's countenance, as well as his brothers, William and Don Carlos remaining in a deep sleep. I was so pleased to have willing models pose for this painting: Gary Summers, Aaron Stewart, Dutch and Emerson deJong.

A Quiet Moment
This painting came to me as I was working on the painting, "There is a Place For You." I saw Vanessa Tedjamulia, the woman in the painting reading her scriptures contemplating the juxtaposition between her Vietnamese heritage and her newfound faith in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. She is wearing her traditional Vietnamese wedding dress in this painting.

There is a Place for You
This painting was inspired by a dream, which the Lord helped me bring into further visualization as I sketched the idea. He guided me in who to ask to pose for me, but each person's personality came out from their own experience.

The Prayer
I had a dream there was a green sky the night Jesus Christ prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane. I tried to follow my dream for this painting.

Two Grieving Brothers
The day after my sister-in-law, Lonnie, passed away, my brother David and I showed up at the nursing home where our brother, Mark was staying. David sat down and put his arm around his younger brother, and I couldn't help but snap this photo quickly to capture the moment. I painted it as part of my own mourning process.
